On IMMERSIONS

IMMERSIONS (European Hybrid Music Network for Cultural Peripheries) is a EU funded project which links cultural players in Poland, Norway, Lithuania and Portugal.

The project aims to support and provide equal opportunities to European musicians working with electronic music, and music venues operating at the periphery of big, cultural hubs, marginalised by the geographical exclusion and negative market mechanisms. It aims to boost the cultural and commercial potential of the sector, by providing innovative use of hybrid solutions and new

forms of live music distribution.

The partners’ music venues will be brought together with a live broadcasting structure. Their audiences across Europe will be given the opportunity to share transnational interaction and build a European community. The successful project will provide artists with an expanded audience, thus boosting their visibility. The audience will have the cultural offer broadened with easier access to emerging live electronic music. The project will also reduce the negative environmental effect of the activities’ operations.

Furthermore, the project entails creation of a mobile recording and broadcasting studio for marginalised artists. The music performances will be recorded and digitally distributed or live streamed to the venues. The standard system, in which physical and economic mobility

burden lays on artists, will be reversed. The project will increase partners’ capacity to make money as well as their resilience to social and financial inequalities of the music market and events like the Covid-19 pandemic.

Alongside development of the new music distribution formats, IMMERSIONS will provide know-how exchange and music education. In all, a broad scope of transnational activities will run in the project’s course: 15 hybrid music events, 13 artists productions, 8 music workshops, 4 professionals’ meetings.
